Je suis

I’m sure I would die if I didn’t have music. I love driving with my sun-roof open and all the windows down. The taste and smell of rain makes me happy. I’m an aspiring high school English teacher. I want to visit Austin, TX (and see Okkervil River). I’ve just discovered that I like sushi and it’s quite an addictive food. I can’t go more than a day without reading a book. Yes, please: books; art; bubble baths; blank word documents waiting to be typed on; sidewalk chalk; music; oddities; flowers; people who are: beautiful, intelligent, funny, quiet, elegant, friendly, musical, wise, artistic, or any of the many other things that make people interesting; and shoes (because I am a girl and it can’t be helped!)

  1. Hey Leah, I really liked the music on your myspace page. Do you have any other favorites you would recommend? (I already downloaded Yann Tiersen’s La Valse d’Amile!)

  2. Actually, the music is from the movie Amelie (which I highly reccomend even though it’s in french!). The entire soundtrack is great…I can try to send it to you if you’d like. Have you heard of Sigur Ross or Mogwai? You might like them too. I’ve mostly been listening to Okkervil River (a band from Austin) lately, but it’s nothing like that song so I don’t know if you’d like it. I could give you a billion others that you should check out, but I’m not sure if you’re that curious. Some of them are hard to find.

  3. I like the music on the Amelie soundtrack, it reminds me of cooking a fantastically fresh meal in Tuscany. Was looking for more instrumental music similar…Parisian cafe style or something like that! 🙂 I’ll look into the ones you mentioned!

  4. Have you seen the movie? Yann Teirsen has some other albums but I haven’t been able to get ahold of them. Beirut is another one you may want to listen to. Some of his songs are the same style. He’s also coming out with a new album soon and said that it was going to sound a lot more like “old french love songs” than his others, so that might be something you’d like too.

  5. love your musing…i’m getting to know you..write more often
